Last week, in the Gospel for the First Sunday of Lent, we were told that after Jesus had fasted forty days in the desert “the devil took him up into a very high mountain, and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them” (Matthew 4:8): His, if he would but fall down and worship Satan. In this week’s Gospel for the Second Sunday of Lent (March 16, 2025) we see Jesus on another mountain in a very different light.
