Friends in Christ,

The Diocese of Charlotte has announced the long-awaited details of the new Traditional Latin Mass chapel in Mooresville, which begins Sunday October 5.

This chapel will be the only location where the Traditional Latin Mass will be offered for the Diocese of Charlotte.

We are pleased to report that the name is:

Chapel of the Little Flower

757 Oakridge Farm Road

Mooresville, NC 28115

Sunday Latin Mass Times

  • 10:00 a.m.
  • 12 noon

Holy Days: TBA

Chaplain: Fr. Brandon Jones

Website: https://charlottediocese.org/TLMChapel/

Origins of the Chapel Name

The Catholic News Herald described the origins of the chapel name: “Its name is derived from nearby St. Thérèse Parish, honoring the way St. Thérèse of Lisieux described herself as “The Little Flower” – a symbol of her humility and trust in God.”

Feast of Saint Thérèse

Incidentally, Saint Thérèse’s feast day occurs in the Traditional Latin Mass calendar this Friday October 3 – the first day the new norms, authorizing the Chapel of the Little Flower, go into effect. The first actual Masses will be on Sunday October 5. Let us place this new chapel and our visits there under her patronage.

Chapel Details

  • Seating capacity is 364 persons and a cry room is available
  • Masses will be offered only on Sundays and Holy Days
  • All other sacraments and programs will occur at one’s parish
  • The chapel will have no collections as attendees are asked to continue to support one’s parish

Father Reid especially noted that Saint Ann parish will bear much of the financial costs of keeping the Chapel of the Little Flower open and encourages our continued generosity (and our occasional visits!)

The Chapel of the Little Flower is the diocese’s first chapel exclusively dedicated to the celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass.

For additional details please see this article by the Catholic News Herald at the link below.

Chapel of the Little Flower to open for Traditional Latin Masses Oct. 5

We will share additional information about the chapel when announced by Father Jones and the diocese and thank everyone for their patience as Father Jones begins his tenure as chaplain.

In Gratitude

As Father Reid recently preached on the importance of cultivating gratitude during this change, we are grateful for all the Traditional Latin Masses offered over the years by our devoted priests in the many parishes throughout the diocese; and for the new chapel, a place which provides for the  continuation of the Traditional Latin Mass during this new period.

October 1 and 2: Last Parish Latin Masses

Before the changes, let us also be grateful for the opportunity to attend these sublime Latin Masses offered at these parishes tomorrow and Thursday.

Wednesday October 1: Feria (Commemoration of St. Remigius)

  • Saint Ann – 6:00 p.m. (Solemn High Mass)
  • Our Lady of Grace – 6:30 p.m. (Requiem Mass)

Thursday October 2: The Holy Guardian Angels

  • Saint Thomas Aquinas – 7:00 p.m. (Solemn High Mass)·
  • Our Lady of Grace (Greensboro) – 6:30 p.m. (Solemn High Missa Cantata for the Votive Mass of Jesus Christ, High Priest with full choir and will include polyphonic ordinary, prelude, and postlude motets)

Prayers

Let us keep our chaplain, Fr. Jones – who has no easy task – in our prayers, especially this week, as well as Bishop Martin, the Latin Mass pastors, and all priests in the Diocese of Charlotte.

Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, the Little Flower, pray for us!
